Hydrangea aspera Villosa Group

Hydrangeas in this group are upright deciduous shrubs getting large and leggy with age. Leaves are velvety, the flat, long-lasting flowerheads (tiny purple flowers surrounded by large conspicuous sterile lilac florets) appear in late summer and autumn. Frost can damage foliage in spring.
