Caryopteris x clandonensis

Caryopteris is a neat small deciduous shrub which has toothed greyish green leaves which are strongly aromatic; the blue flowers are late summer/autumn magnets for bees and butterflies, like a compact buddleja. There are cultivars with deep blue flowers, others with yellow foliage rather than greyish green, but the basic plant is attractive though short-lived, and will set seed easily.
