Recognise pear rust

The most visible symptom of this fungal disease is an orange spot on the upper surface of a leaf - the fruits aren't affected. The gall-like growth which develops on the underside of the leaf spreads its spores onto Junipers for the winter, but if you collect and burn the fallen leaves you should reduce the problem.
