Buddleja lindleyana

Buddleja lindleyana

This is almost unrecognisable as a butterfly bush - panicles of purple flowers are elongated and branches droop, so that it has been mistaken for something like Wisteria. It is one of the most beautiful buddlejas, and can be trained into a weeping small tree to show off the flowers from below.  It can often look chlorotic (yellowish leaves) even when your soil is chalky, but it is fully hardy  in the UK and quite robust.
