Cleome 'Helen Campbell'
The Spider flower is a tall and unusual bedding plant from South America which flowers for months - the species is C. hassleriana, 'Helen Campbell' is a pure white strain. Few pests attack cleome's spiny stems and coarse leaves, but it is related to brassicas and this summer cabbage white caterpillars and flea beetles are voracious.
