Blight can devastate tomatoes

Late blight can occur at any time over the summer when the humidity is high and temperatures are low; when conditions are right for blight to spread it is called a 'Hutton Period' and farmers and growers get notifications to take precautions. For amateur growers, unfortunately the first sign of blight is usually the sudden decay of tomato stems and the collapse of the foliage.
