Melons need support!

Another picture from Wilf's greenhouse: it's possible to grow melons in the UK but you are more likely to get a decent fruit with the extra heat you will get under glass. Melons, like squashes and cucumbers, are actually vining plants, and you will need to support the fruits so that their weight doesn't drag the vine down to where slugs and snails can enjoy them. Here Wilf has used upturned flower pots to support the fruits.
