Snails can climb down, as well as up

9th July 2021

Snails have the agility of Tom Cruise in a Mission Impossible film. Re-planting the trough with Petchoa (Petunia x Callibrachoa hybrids) seemed reasonable, with a thick mulch of grit covering one or two ferrous phosphate slug pellets to protect the plants from below. Unfortunately snails and slugs can abseil down from any nearby greenery, and will obviously go to any lengths to eat Petchoa.
