recognise rodent damage

The damage to these hebes was unexpected  - rodents usually nip off plant stems and dig up bulbs in spring when they are short of food, but this has happened in summer. Moving the rest of the hebes out of the cold frame - which is obviously treated as a larder  - has solved the problem for now, but it hasn't sorted out how the rodents (shrews, mice or voles) get into the cold frame easily.
