Controlling gooseberry sawfly

You can use chemicals like pyrethrum (note the 'harvest interval') to control the sawfly grubs,  you can cut off any affected shoots as soon as you see the first signs of damage, or you can use a pathogenic nematode that infects sawfly larvae with a disease. This bush has been treated for the last two years with nematodes but the grubs come back.
