Recognise suckers on grafted plants

Wisteria is generally grafted to produce a saleable flowering plant in a shorter time; sometimes shoots will arise from below the graft point, so they won't have the same characteristics as the rest of the plant. In this white wisteria, one sucker has grown up and is producing mauve flowers.
