Allium giganteum

Allium giganteum

These tall perennial bulbs, with slightly smaller flowers than the well-known A. christophii, are easy to grow for a purple accent in late spring borders. The leaves die down messily before the flowers reach their full colour, and need to be cleared away, then the flowerheads can be left in place to fade gradually.
