Watch for powdery mildew on apples

The whitened new growth at shoot tips shows where powdery mildew has developed from dormant buds infected during the previous growing season for these apple rootstocks.The disease reduces vigour and cropping on mature trees, though they continue to grow despite it. A fungicide may help these rootstocks to regain their vigour.
