Choose foliage for striking spring colour

Some plants like Sorbaria sorbifolia 'Sem' and Koelreuteria paniculata 'Coral Sun' have brilliant young foliage, their coral or orange leaves brighter than most spring flowers. Both will fade to a greenish-yellow in summer, like the shrimp-pink sycamore Acer pseudoplatanus 'Brilliantissimum'.
