Finish winter pruning

Where you are pollarding plants to control their height or get larger leaves later in the year, you need to finish your pruning soon or buds will begin to break on the shrubs. This purple catalpa will have leaves 25cm across because it’s been cut back hard, and also throw up new stems nearly 3m long.
