Viburnum tinus

Grown well, this is a useful evergreen shrub; it tolerates a lot of shade, and forms its pink flower-buds at the start of winter before opening them to white flowers in early spring. But where viburnum beetle wrecks the leaves, and the bushes are allowed to straggle, it's a mess.
