Berberis darwinii

The evergreen barberry is a dense, medium-sized shrub with arching branches, which is sometimes used for hedging; the dark glossy green leaves look like tiny holly, and the rich orange flowers (red in bud) are followed by blue-black berries which are attractive to birds.
