Crocus chrysanthus

The earliest species crocus to flower are generally smallish, often yellow in colour; these are usually C. chrysanthus or cultivars bred from this small golden 'snow crocus'; sometimes it is hybridised with C. biflorus to give the early 'Blue Pearl'.
