Subtlety needs a close-up view

Iris reticulata cultivars need good drainage, so this 'J. S. de Dijt' has been planted in a raised bed, with a topdressing of gravel.  Unfortunately its subtle colour means that fallen leaves still make it inconspicuous  - it would be better in an alpine trough or a pot  or it will never be noticed.
