Arbutus unedo

The Strawberry Tree is actually a large shrub with leathery evergreen leaves, which really prefers acid soil. Strings of bell-shaped white flowers (like lily-of-the-valley) appear in autumn just as last year's fruits, which develop really slowly, ripen from yellow to squishy strawberry-red.
