Ceratostigma plumbaginoides

This is the hardiest of the leadworts, a low-growing herbaceous perennial with running roots which dies back to nothing in winter; it  forms a mat of stems and oval leaves which turn reddish purple in autumn as a background to the rich blue flowers.
