Collect magnolia fruits

This peculiar 'fruit' is a magnolia seed pod; as the fruit dries out it exposes the ripe reddish seeds. To get seeds to germinate in spring, soak to remove the fleshy covering from the seeds then keep them moist and cold stratified (chilled outdoors overwinter or in a fridge).
