grow your own halloween pumpkin

Pumpkins are tender plants, so start them under cover and plant them out in May as soon as frosts are over, to give them a good long growing season. Plenty of sun and water will swell the fruit, then cut the pumpkins with a bit of stalk attached, and let the skin harden up before carving.
