Gladiolus papilio

This subtle plant is hardly recognisable as related to the the brash 'gladdies' of Dame Edna. The sophisticated South African form has nodding bells of subtle greyish purple hang down, hiding intricate yellow markings inside each flower. Plant them where you can look up into the flowers to appreciate them properly.
