Aloe striatula

This is one of the hardiest aloes, native of South African mountain regions and able to withstand extremes of heat and cold.  It will create a low dense, multi-stemmed, rambling thicket of succulent-looking foliage; in summer the yellow flowers  are held high on thick stems, making it look like a Kniphofia.
