Look out for Cinnabar moth caterpillars
11th July 2020
If you see small, striped caterpillars chewing their way through the leaves of ragwort or groundsel, these hungry objects are the larval stage of the the lovely red Cinnabar moth, which is native to Europe and western and central Asia. It depends on the Senecio genus and has been introduced into New Zealand, Australia and North America as a biocontrol for invasive ragwort.
