'June drop' is normal

If you have apple trees, you can expect to see a carpet of small fruitlets on the ground now; this is perfectly normal - more flowers are pollinated and more fruits start to develop than the tree can possibly carry to full size and ripeness. 'June drop' happens every year to shed surplus fruitlets and save wasting the tree's energy.
