Cistus x purpureus

This small, bushy shrub has narrow, evergreen leaves, then a short-lived mass of showy flowers with purplish-pink petals (each with large deep red blotch at the base). It is very hardy but needs free-draining soil and full sun. It isn't long-lived, and does not respond well to hard pruning.
