Support tall stems with a 'cats cradle'

For really tall perennials like delphiniums or Eupatorium,  a really effective method of support (from Fergus Garrett of Great Dixter) is to use one  or more really firm stakes at the back of the clump, then run string  around individual stems and back to the stakes, so that the stems can move individually but not snap.
