The unplanned forget-me-not plants which have seeded themselves by the front path have developed powdery mildew - white fungal coating on the leaf surfaces which often develops when plants are stressed by dry spells because the spores are able to spread even in relatively dry conditions. These unwanted seedlings will be weeded out to improve the air circulation around the penstemons they have invaded.
