Excavate for bindweed roots

Shoots of hedge bindweed are just starting to show through now, and this is your last chance to try to excavate roots before it gets entangled with other plants. You may need to go very deep, and it's hard to get out all the fragments of root, so there will probably be some regrowth to deal with - but at least you will weaken it.
