Azara microphylla

This small, upright, evergreen tree can grow to 10 metres in its native Chile, but generally in the the UK it is grown as a large shrub. It has small, shiny, very dark green leaves  and a neat appearance. It isn't very showy for most of the year, as the tiny yellow flowers are held underneath the leaves, but in late winter their vanilla scent wafts on the breeze like a childhood memory of Fry's Chocolate Cream.
