Chionodoxa forbesii

The RHS now lists this lovely little bulb online as 'Scilla forbesii', but it was bought in Wisley's garden centre last month as Chionodoxa. The botanists have had their way and reclassified it, but this doesn't affect students of the RHS practicals, who can stick with what the current plant list says.

Whatever you call it, the clear blue flowers with white centres thrive and spread in any well-drained soil like this gravel path.
