Araucaria araucana

The Monkey Puzzle was introduced to England by plant hunter Archibald Menzies. When it is relatively young, it forms an interesting pyramid of twisting branches covered in spirals of sharp-pointed evergreen leaves. Eventually it can reach over 30 metres and its shape changes, losing the lower branches to form a ragged umbrella shape.
