RHS Level 3: Theory Course

L3 Plant Growth Cert

Course content:

  • Plant taxonomy, structure and function
  • The root environment, plant nutrition and growing systems
  • The management of plant health
  • Understanding applied plant propagation

Duration: The course runs on Saturdays for 27 weeks from September 2015, from 13.30 -16.30.

How each course is taught and assessed:

You will study 4 units.

The course is classroom based; teaching consists of lectures and practical demonstrations, with outdoor discussions in the gardens wherever this can help understanding. Each unit is assessed by a short written examination set by the RHS in February and June each year.

There is no compulsory course work, but you will be given the opportunity to try sample examination questions if you are going take the examination.

Achievement: Achievement: When you have passed exams in all the units, the RHS will award a L3 Certificate in Plant Growth, Health and Applied Propagation.

Note: If you have opted not to undertake the examinations for either course but work through all the exercises and practice questions we will issue a certificate of attendance.

RHS Practical courses: Level 2  Ryton Friday am, next places Sept 2015; Saturday pm, one place now, and booking for Sept 2015; Level 2 North Moreton (Thursdays) course full, next places Sept 2015. For Level 3 Practical we have some places at both centres on the rolling programme, so starting throughout the year.

NEW at North Moreton: short course on garden design  running again 22 April, 20 May and 3 June 2015.
